Today, there are only four surviving examples of the 1804 dated Eagle coin, struck at Philadelphia Mint in 1834. Apparently, this particular $10 coin was made for Andrew Jackson. Fox news reported:
"The pristine-condition coin depicts a turban-wearing "Miss Liberty" surrounded by 13 stars representing the original 13 colonies. The word "Liberty" is near the top of the coin and the date 1804 is at the bottom. The other side shows a spread-winged eagle surrounded by the words, "United States of America.""
This coin sold for $5 million dollars. The buyers asked to remain anonymous, but were reported as entrepreneurs who had been collecting these pieces since young boys and wanted to complete their collection. This purchase was documented as the highest price paid for such a coin.
Has the world come to the point that no one has anything better to do with their money? Is America the land of the rich and lazy? Should this money be donated to poor people? Maybe people should take up less expensive hobbies like soccer or stamp collecting.
I chose this current event to actually prove a point. This point is that there was nothing significant in this week of politics or world news. Republicans spent a lot of money on campaigns, and people are still talking about health care. Illegal immigrants are invading and there's a war in Iraq. Obviously, we need someone to do something scandalous so we can cultivate more interesting news topics. I feel that I need no other proof than the fact that this story was on a news homepage as a highlight story to prove my point.

hahaha Cassie nice topic
yeah the topics last week were majority dull or just repeated news stories.
but i agree with your point how america has nothing better to do with their money besides wasting it on pointless items such as a 5 million dollar coin. i feel this is too much money for coin and for some person or people to spend such money on this is quite silly. I mean don't they have something else or a better cause to donate 5 MILLION DOLLARS on. Common people get a clue 5 MILLION DOLLARS today is basically used as toilet paper, its "whatever money" when in fact could benefit other people.
ooo cassie GET DAT MONEY
